At The Swan With Two Necks

This involved the frankly rather scary move of playing a great deal of fresh material. In the couple of days leading up to it, we reworked two of our own songs – The Lord and The Dancer- writing new bits and improving on parts we weren’t too hapy with. On top of this, we worked on not one, but four practically new covers – Coldplay’s ’42′, 1930′s classic ‘Why Don’t You Do Right?’, ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Eurythmics, and the unlikely choice of ‘Teenage Dirtbag’. Of course, we couldn’t resist a rendition of Come Together as well though!

To shake things up even further, we decided it would be interesting to swap instruments when we played The Doctor. Neither of us play the other’s instrument at all well, so it took a lot of extra concentration. It was quite a relief to get our weapons of choice back afterwards!

We had a great night, the other acts – Anything Acoustic, Anthony Dalton and Robbie Cross, were excellent.

Now to focus on finishing writing and recording our album!

At The Thirsty Scholar

We took the opportunity to play a newly reworked song of ours, The Lord. We’re currently working on finishing writing our murder mystery concept album, ready to be recorded as we get further into the summer.

You can catch us playing at The Swan With Two Necks in Macclesfield on Friday. We’ll be trying some new exciting stuff out there too, so make sure you don’t miss it!

On Tuesday night, we’ll be heading to The Thirsty Scholar in Manchester to play. Pop down and see us play in Manchester for the first time! There’ll also be plenty of other great acts playing, so it promises to be a good night out.

We’ll be playing a little closer to home on Friday 18th May, when you can catch us at The Swan With Two Necks in Macclesfield. Always one of our favourite places to play, we’ll be alongside Anything Acoustic, Robbie Cross and Anthony Dalton.

At the Leek Pop Up Emporium

As well as introducing shoppers to three of the suspects from our victorian murder mystery – via the songs The Doctor, The Butler and The Dancer, we also played some vintage 1940′s tunes. The close harmony style of some of the most popular music of the 40′s is something we love and has subsequently heavily influenced our musical stylings. We played some of our favourites, arranging some of them to fit the style , these were A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree, White Cliffs of Dover/We’ll Meet Again, Why Don’t You Do Right? and the contemporary yet retro song Candyman.

We also devoured some beautiful cakes from the fair!

We played our song The Butler (you can hear a demo of this song on our Soundcloud) as well as our cover of The Beatles’ Come Together. We had a really nice time and would like to thank everyone who had a listen and decided to check us out on the internet afterwards!

Tomorrow we will be playing at Leek Pop Up Staffordshire Emporium which you’ll find at Co-operative Emporium on High Street in Leek, between 10am and 3pm! There’ll be tea, cake, crafts and vintage goods to buy, as well as live music. We’ll be playing around 11.30am, playing some 1940′s classics as well as our own material.

We’re back!

First off, thank you so much to all of you who voted for us in the Youbloom.com semi finals! We narrowly missed out on making it into the quarter finals which is a shame, but the amount of support we got from some lovely people was fantastic.

At the moment, we’re writing some new material as well as practicing up for our upcoming live performances. We’ve a few dates in May – the first of which is tomorrow evening, when we perform live on Silk FM. You can listen from 8pm, either online, or by tuning your radio to 106.9fm.

This Saturday, we’ll be playing at Leek Pop Up Staffordshire Emporium. There’ll be lots of vintage and handmade goodies for you to buy and we’ll be playing some vintage music. What better way is there to spend your Saturday? It runs from 10am til 3pm, so get yourself down there!
